Adoptable Hoboken Pets of the Week: Abbicus and Dundee

Poor Abbicus came to Liberty Humane as a stray. At first, he had a very hard time adjusting to shelter life. He was so scared and stressed that he refused to eat and the staff had to hand feed him. All of a sudden one day, Abbicus perked up and began eating! It was like he woke up and decided that he was going to adjust to shelter life so that he could find a nice forever home. Since then, he has become one of our most affectionate cats. He loves the company of other cats and people alike.

Abbicus is also a true teenage kitten. At one-year old, he has A LOT of energy and will play for hours with anything you put in his cage – balls, cardboard toilet paper rolls, fake mice, etc.

He is currently one of our lobby cats which means that he actually enjoys the crazy hustle and bustle of the front lobby. If you come visit him, you’ll see him solicit your attention from across the room. Open up his cage and you’ll be sure to have his head in your hand looking for chin scratches.

Dundee is a truly happy-go-lucky pooch! He absolutely loves everyone he meets! Once people see those huge ears and wide grin, they fall in love with him too.

Dundee is just outstanding when it comes to learning commands! He very easily picked up sit, stay and shake. Since he first came to Liberty Humane in December, he has grown from a rambunctious puppy to a young dog with manners. In addition to all of the commends he’s learned, he also now walks appropriately on a leash and patiently sits and waits for treats when you approach his cage. Since he’s a very quick learner and a people pleaser, we’re sure that he will continue to excel once he’s in his forever home.

While he does love to play and learn, he also enjoys relaxing with his special people. If you get the lucky chance to cuddle up with him, he will let out a whimper and a sign of contentment. He will even stretch out across your lap if you let him.

Dundee is dog-selective when it comes to meeting new friends. Therefore, introductions should be made slowly as not every dog will be an ideal playmate for him. Due to this, he would not be an ideal candidate for a romp around the public dog parks.
