While a plethora of Hobokenites are weekend warriors (myself included at times), sometimes other creative and local events get pushed to the wayside. I’m partnering up with Alicia of Hoboken Townery, a fun, new site where anyone can post local events in Hoboken on the site (…think happy hours, charity events, plays, you name it!) to make sure that “work hard, play harder” can also encompass some fun events off the beaten path…that may not always involve a hangover. Not saying I won’t encourage a bar crawl from time to time, but you know what I mean.
Here are some events that I found noteworthy for this weekend:
1. The Vagina Monologues
Time/Location: Monroe Theatrespace – 720 Monroe Street, February 25th @ 3pm & 8pm.
An official participant in VDAY 2012, The Theater Company of Hoboken presents a staged reading of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues – a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery.
There are only two performances only! Definitely worth a $15 ticket; I saw this in college and it was phenom.
2. Meet Stella & Dot, and learn about becoming a jewelry stylist
Time/Location: Panera Bread on Washington St. – February 26th, from 10am-12pm.
Krista, a stylist of Stella & Dot, says:
Looking for a way to make some extra cash, or maybe a whole career change? Swing by Panera Bread on Washington Street anytime from 10a-12p on Sunday to learn more about the ground-floor opportunity with Stella & Dot!
As a Stella & Dot Stylist, you’ll be in business for yourself – not by yourself. Stella & Dot is so much more than a fashion brand – we’re a company inspired by, and created for, strong, savvy women from all walks of life. When you join us, we’ll be standing by with all the training tools and support you need to create a thriving businesses of your very own.
Stella & Dot is a jewelry company that has been gaining some notoriety recently (I’ve seen a lot of their stuff on Pinterest, actually – it’s super cute).

3. Liberty Humane Society Wine Tasting Fundraiser and Kitten Promotion
Time/Location: Madame Claude’s Wine Bar (234 Pavonia Ave in Hamilton Square — it is in Jersey City, buuut I just love supporting Hoboken’s most local shelter!) Sunday, February 26th from 7-9pm.
Join LHS supporters and friends for an evening of fun where there will be sampling of a selection of red wines, white wines, cheeses, and chocolates. Tickets are $25 at the door – and raffle prizes can be bought for $5. A fun time for a great cause fo’ sho.
