Do you have visitors in town? If you want to get the best brunch bang for your buck… Head to Gaslight on the corner of 4th and Adams.
$15 for brunch and two alcoholic or non-alcoholic bevs. Can’t beat it.
Gaslight boasts a true Br-unch menu, as it has both breakfast and lunch in true form. Think: eggs if you’re in a breakfast mood, penne pasta if you’re in a lunch mood.
Gaslight is relatively spacious, and when I brought my group of seven in around 1230, we only waited about fifteen minutes for a large table to open up.
Among items ordered in my group:
Turkey Burger with Avocado
Omelet and Bacon
And my personal order: Fried Egg and Prosciutto on a (substituted) English Muffin
Originally the sandwich came on a Kaiser roll, but I felt like that would be kind of heavy and overpower the eggs and prosciutto. When I received my order, however, I realized that the English muffin was a little too small for the sandwich. I ended up attempting to eat it as a sandwich, only to succumb to using a fork (a pet peeve of mine, sandwiches should be eaten like sandwiches, pizza should be eaten like pizza… No forks allowed unless it’s an emergency). Well with mimosa in hand, this constituted an emergency.
Speaking of mimosas, we had an array of drink orders, including:
Beer
And of course some caffeine.
I also love the mini muffins and fruit that is sent out to moderate the mini buzz you get when sipping down your morning cocktails.
Overall thoughts: the food is decent, the drinks are flowing, and it’s definitely a lively place to have a nice Saturday or Sunday brunch. You really can’t go wrong with Gaslight and some guests!
